2 Suggested Installation Techniques:
1. Mounted on a pressure-treated 4 x 4, installed at least 18 inches into the ground. Remove the screws holding the roof onto the wooden section of the house and attach the base using two 3" screws. Replace said roof with its screws. Do not over-tighten the screws. If you strip the holes, place a toothpick in the hole, glue it in place and let it harden overnight, then replace the screw.
2. Use a bracket that can be purchased from any home hardware store that you would normally use to hold a shelf on the wall. Install the bracket on a fence, tree, shed, or your home. Install the birdhouse as above if needed. Most brackets can be screwed into the base from the bottom eliminating the need to remove the roof.
Maintenance is minimal. To clean out the bird's nest in the fall, you may remove the roof if you wish. We suggest a new coat of paint every few years. We have used the Exterior Soft Gloss paint from Benjamin Moore. Use exterior-grade Gorilla Glue to reattach any glass or other parts that come loose over the years.
